Our Accreditations
Our Accreditations
Accreditations are utilised by F&M Whelan Engineering Ltd. to provide a competitive advantage in addition to acting as a catalyst to raise standards and institute improved work practices within our business.
CE marking
CE Marking (originally Conformité Européenne) demonstrates compliance with the appropriate manufacturing standard for a product. For fabricated structural steelwork, CE Marking became mandatory on 1 July 2014. This represents a major development for engineers, contractors and steelwork specialists and it demands careful attention to the new obligations imposed.
In order to be able to CE Mark their steelwork, contractors have to implement and maintain a certified Factory Production Control (FPC) system. F&M Whelan Steel Engineering have been certified to Execution Class 2 standard for Factory Production Control to EN 1090-1 and EN 1090-2 and are now fully accredited and compliant with CE Marking regulations.
The EN 1090 standards are European standards that regulate the fabrication and assembly of steel and aluminium structures and are recognized by the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (CPR).
EN 1090 comprises three parts:
- EN 1090-1: Requirements for conformity assessment for structural components (CE-Marking)
- EN 1090-2: Technical requirements for the execution of steel structures
- EN 1090-3: Technical requirements for the execution of aluminium structures
F&M Whelan Steel Engineering management and staff have committed to progressing our FPC system to Execution Class 3 and are planning to achieve this standard at the time of our next annual CE Marking Audit.
